WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIPS Soaring at Quail D anville resident Ty Akabane won't forget this year's annual California Women's Amateur Championship at Quail Lodge Resort anytime soon. Along with winning her first CWAC title, Akabane during the week also committed to playing for UCLA beginning the fall of 2019. The 17-year-old, who earned the No.1 seed by seven shots, would defeat runner-up Kathleen Scavo of Benicia, 3 and 2, in the 18-hole final. "It's such an honor to win this championship. There's so many who have won this and went on to be successful," said Akabane, who joined legends Patty Sheehan, Amy Alcott and Juli Inkster as winners of the event. "It's an incredible feeling."
