SUPPORTING THE RISING S lated to take place Oct. 1-7 at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, 100% of ticket sales from this year's championship will be donated to rebuilding Napa Valley and the ongoing fire relief efforts in the region. Last year, the event, which is hosted by Johnny Miller and was won by Brendan Steele (inset), concluded just a few hours before the Atlas Peak fires erupted. The commitment from the Safeway Open presented by Chevron follows a prior donation of $200,000 from the tournament last October as well as $1 million from Albertsons Company, the parent company of Safeway. In addition, more than $4 million was raised in Safeway stores through its loyal customers throughout Northern California and donated back to fire relief efforts last fall.
