It's time to plan your playing schedule. 7 PICKING UP THE PACE Golf's new Rules include improvements to help speed up the pace of play. 8 THE FAN Former U.S. ambassador Harry Shlaudeman's legacy includes being a part of the San Luis Obispo golf scene. 10 PLAYING GEMS The 2019 NCGA Members Travel itinerary includes trips to England and the always-popular Bandon Dunes. 11 CALENDAR PGA Southern Cal Junior Tour Wins at Poppy Hills to Tie Series Team Junior Tour of Northern California (pictured) gave its best but came up short in the annual Challenge Cup, falling to the PGA Southern California Junior Tour, 14-10, in early January. The Cup features 12 members (eight boys, four girls) of the CIG-sponsored JTNC taking on 12 players from the SCJT in a Ryder Cup-like format. It marked the first title for SoCal since the inaugural Cup was held in 2016. The Series is now tied at two victories apiece. "It's really cool," said JTNC member Sam Sommerhauser. "We don't get to play a lot of match play, plus the north-south rivalry is kind of fun." Challenge Cup Challenge Cup
