July 19–22 | Niagara Falls CC S tanford junior and 2014 NCGA Amateur Stroke Play Champi- onship runner-up Brandon Wu didn't feel any pressure. Locked in a four-way tie enter- ing the final round, the eClub East Bay member posted a bogey-free, 6-under par 64 to cruise to a three- shot win. How good was his round? How about the third-lowest final round score by a Porter Cup winner, just a shot off the 63's posted by 1990 champ Phil Mick- elson and 1973 winner Vinny Giles. "I just tried to stay relaxed and played my own game," said Wu, who finished with a 72-hole total of 11-under par 269. Wu's game fired on all cylinders. He hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation and 11 of 13 fairways in the finale. The Danville native, who has also lived in China, was a second- team All-Pac 12 selection. July 18–21| Chambers Bay D oug Ghim of Arlington Heights, Ill., two-putted the final hole to capture one of amateur golf's most prized trophies. Ghim, a senior at the University of Texas, shot a final round 2-under par 69 for a 72-hole aggregate of 9-under par 275, defeating runner-up Cameron Champ of Sacramento by a stroke. Champ was coming off a great showing at the U.S. Open where he led the field in driving distance. "I don't remember playing with so many guys ranked in the top 10 in one tournament," Ghim said. "So it was pretty special to get it done." Champ grabbed the lead with a 65 in the second round, but slipped to a third round 73. He closed with a final round 69. Will Zalatoris of Texas, the defending champion, took third at 277. 51st Pacific Coast Amateur Championship 59th Porter Cup NCGA.ORG | FALL 2017 61 20th Foursomes Championship July 15 –16 | Poppy Ridge GC Overall: Mike and Kelsi Stieler, 69-76—145 Open: : Brian Walters and Bobby Maidens, 72-67—139 Parent/Child: Justin and Tim Lazaruk, 64-68—132 13th Women's Net Amateur Championship July 17–18 | Poppy Hills GC Big Sur: Taylor Robles, 73-71—144 Golden Gate: Jenny Liu, 72-75—147 Yosemite: Cathy Pementell, 65-75—140
