66 FALL 2017 | NCGA.ORG W E E K E N D N E T T O U R T he 2017 Weekend Net Tour season still has one rather large event looming on the calendar. Come Dec. 9–10, the top 40 players from the season-long points list will converge at Poppy Hills GC and The Links at Spanish Bay for the inaugural Tour Championship, where someone will be crowned the first Weekend Net Tour champion. Looking ahead to the 2018 season, NCGA members can expect an even more robust Weekend Net Tour schedule. Tour director Sam Staton notes that an additional 10 events will be added, bringing the total to 35. Look too for tweaks in the points standings and a new handicap review process to promote fairness across all flights. Among the venues that are already locked in as sites for 2018 include: Silverado Resort, Half Moon Bay, Wente Vineyards, Diablo Grande and Rancho Solano. There will also be a new spin—a playoff- like event at Silverado where players not exempt for the season-ending Tour Championship will have a chance to still qualify. Perfect for those who only have time to tee it up on Saturday or Sunday, the increasingly popular new series is open to both male and female players of all abilities. There is no membership fee to join the tour and entry fees for events are affordably priced .
