NCGA.ORG | WINTER 2018 59 Dec. 14-15 | Rancho La Quinta T he NCGA kept its streak alive, winning for the fourth straight time after defeating the Southern California Golf Association, 44-28, in the biennial event. With bragging rights on the line, the NCGA, with President Tom Bone in the role of team captain, pulled away by outscoring the SGGA, 21-15, in Singles play. The Cup, which utilizes a format similar to the Ryder Cup, is named after amateur legend Charles Seaver, one of only two players to hold the NCGA, SCGA and California Amateur titles at the same time (1933-1934; the other is George Von Elm). The NCGA leads in the series, 5-3-2. 10th Seaver Cup 2018 Changes to NCGA Points Policies Players planning to compete in an NCGA points event this season need to keep in mind that there have been changes to the points policies. • The NCGA Points Year for 2017-2018 will run from Dec. 1, 2017 through Nov. 30, 2017. The points season previously ran from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30. Cup Match points (for Seniors and Super Seniors only) run from Oct. 1 to Sept. 30 of the following year. • Players can compete in any division, but they will only receive points for the division they are playing in. Players cannot "double-dip" points. Example: Player A, who competes in a Senior tournament, will not receive Super Senior points for the same tournament. This rule also applies to Women's and Senior Women's events. • Points for all events will be entered as soon as they are received. Qualifiers points will no longer wait until the championship proper to be configured. • Tournaments are placed in points levels based on the field size of the tournament upon the first round. This is known as "live-points."
