Gold Rush J TNC member John Scott Senz of Pleasant Hill struck gold by winning the 2017 Special Olympics of Northern California Regional Tournament. The 18- hole championship was held Sept. 17 at Empire Ranch GC. "I was thrilled to win this very competitive event and it was really great to make some new friends," said Senz, who has cerebral palsy. "We all played well and the competition helped us all to raise the level of our games." Fond Farewell S abrina Iqbal, winner of a record 25 JTNC titles as of Dec. 1, shot 2-over 73 to finish as runner-up at November's CIF Girls' State Championship at Poppy Hills. It was the final CIF State appearance for Iqbal, who's headed to Texas Christian University in the fall. In 2014, the San Jose resident won the State crown as a freshman.
