W hen word of Cabot Links — a golf course to be built on reclaimed land in the tattered town of Inverness, Nova Scotia — began to spread a decade ago it came with a healthy dose of skepticism. The doubt lay chiefly with locals who'd watched several develop- ers and golf course architects — Jack Nicklaus among them — survey the sensational site between the town and sea over the years only to break plans and promises. However, Ben Cowan-Dewar was determined. The Toronto busi- nessman's love affair with golf had led him to found a high-end golf travel company and co-found the golf course architecture forum board Golf- ClubAtlas.com. He'd appreciated the wonderful work Mike Keiser had done with Bandon Dunes.
