NCGA.ORG | SPRING 2018 65 P oppy Hills Golf Course, the home course of the NCGA, will make its USGA championship debut July 16-21 when the U.S. Girls' Junior Championship tees off. While it's the first time the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. layout has hosted a USGA event, it's not Poppy's first time on the big stage. Poppy Hills has hosted numerous state, regional and national events for both amateurs and professionals since its 1986 opening. Poppy Hills was one of the three host courses for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am from 1991-2009, and has annually co-hosted the PGA Tour Champions PURE Insurance Championship since 2014. A 17-time host of the California Senior Amateur, the course also hosted the 1991 NCAA Men's Championship and the 1989, 1990, 1992 and 1993 Spalding Pebble Beach (now TaylorMade) Invitational. The course also hosts numerous NCGA major championships including the Women's Championship and Amateur Stroke Play Championship. The NCGA's junior golf ties include the NCGA Foundation's Youth on Course program and the Junior Tour of Northern California, which is run in conjunction with the Northern California PGA.
