T he NCGA Weekend Net Tour is back for 2018, and it's bigger and better than ever. For starters, there's an increased schedule. The new season, which opened Feb. 17, features a total of 35 events, up 10 from last year. There's also a new list of venues, including Bodega Harbour in Bodega Bay, Bayonet GC in Seaside, Elkhorn GC in Stockton, Dragonfly GC in Madera and Ancil Hoffman GC in Carmichael. Open to men and women of all playing abilities there too have been improvements made to the points system. This year, Weekend Net Tour officials have created a season-long handicap review policy to ensure fair play on a weekly basis. Perfect for those who only have time to tee it up on Saturday or Sunday, all Weekend Net Tour events are flighted by handicap and have an optional Skins game. Men use tees between 6,000-6,400 yards and women use forward tees ranging from 5,000-5,300 yards. Following the conclusion of the regular season, the top 40 players on the season-points list will receive an invitation to the Tour Championship, to be held Dec. 8-9. As a bonus, the top four players on the points list will receive free entry into the championship. Unlike other amateur tours, there's never a mem- bership fee to participate and entry fees are afford- ableā€”so play in as few or as many events as you'd like.
