F ormer JTNC member Samantha Hutchison, now a junior at UC Davis, was named Big West Player of the Year in April. The winner of the 2013 NCGA Junior Championship, Hutchison was also named to the All-Big West First Team. "I can't say enough about how supportive coach (Anna) Temple, my family and my teammates were in my journey this season," Hutchison told The Enterprise. "They were so encouraging and really brought out the best in me." Hutchison finished the season with a 73.54 stroke average. One of Hutchison's Aggies teammates is sophomore Yoonhee Kim, who won nine times on the Junior Tour. Hutchison's brother, Thomas, who plays on the UC Davis men's squad, was the JTNC Boys' Player of the Year in 2016. C oncord resident Yealimi Noh punched her ticket to the 2018 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship, shooting a medalist-earning 5-under 67 in an 18- hole qualifier held June 14 at Reserve at Spanos Park. Noh recently won her 18th career Northern California junior major, tying Casie Cathrea for second place all-time. Others advancing through the qualifier were Roseville's Sienna Lyford and Doodle Yuen of Los Gatos (70), Sofia Young of Benicia (71), Madelyn Gamble of Pleasant Hill and Alice Liu of Pleasanton (72) and Nthenya Maithya of Modesto and Katherine Zhu of San Jose (73)…San Jose resident Lucas Carper and Jacqueline Ha of San Ramon played their way into this year's PGA Junior Championships after winning the Boys' and Girls' titles, respectively, at the Summer Series II Championship at Poppy Ridge GC. This year's PGA Junior Championship will tee off July 31- August 3 at Valhalla GC in Kentucky. The PGA Girls' Junior will be held July 9-12 at Kearney Hills GC in Kentucky… Looking ahead, a JTNC Boys' player will once again be guaranteed a spot in the annual Tour Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae in Hayward. On June 28, an 18-hole qualifier will be held at Poppy Ridge GC, with the winner earning the right to play with the pros. Last year, Colt McNealy, the younger brother of former Stanford star Maverick McNealy, played his way into the pro field. This year's Ellie Mae Classic will tee off Aug. 6-12.
